Continuum School Harlow
Our school is situated in the small village of Roydon on the outskirts of Harlow in Essex. We are a co–educational independent Special School that provides education for pupils in Key stages 3 & 4 on behalf of Essex Education Authority. Pupils may only be admitted onto role at the school via the Essex SENCAN team. All pupils in the school have a statement of Special Educational Need and all exhibit challenging behaviour.
Our work is supported by a framework of unconditional care and positive regard taken from the Continuum Group's “House of Resilience”(TM) Its foundation is taken from the Every Child Matters model. (Further details of the methodology behind this model are available upon request).
School Mission Statement:
To provide the highest quality of educational opportunity through the promotion of individual and collective worth and the principles of care, involvement and achievement within the framework of mutual respect, rigour and responsibility.
The school has a capacity of 24 pupils and can provide specialised support for young people with emotional, behavioural and learning difficulties. Young people aged 11–16 may enter the school at any time during the academic year.
Our students are of mixed ability and every effort is made to ensure that teaching meets the needs of individual pupils and addresses the objectives of their statement. We acknowledge that children learn in many different ways and we use a variety of strategies and techniques to ensure that our pupils learn and make progress. For most of the pupils at the school this procurement is the best chance.
